Why Sunday Rocks - By Katelyn Christensen
Hey there Bloggers - K here. I just thought I would take a minute and let you all know how much I love Sundays. I hope Jaimie doesn't mind me stealing her idea to blog about Sabbath days in our home but they are just so classic I can't help myself. We don't have church meetings until 1:00 here in Virgina 1 at Liberty Square. Most people would think this church time would be annoying and a bit of a pain (not that I would ever name any specific names)...NOT ME! I love it. Here is our daily routine on Sundays. We sleep in until 9...:30 OK - sometimes 10:00 AM. We have to catch up on our crazy collage kids schedule somehow. Don't judge us. Then we pretty much get to relax. Sometimes we watch a movie, Sabbath Appropriate OF COURSE! - Like Singin' in the Rain or The Parent Trap. Sometimes we make breakfast like Pancakes or French Toast, unless we wake up and remember it is Fast Sunday : D and then we pretty much cook up everything we have in our fridge AFTER church. We are big cookies fans. We get ready for church, while Jammin' out to my iPod. Why Katelyn's iPod you may ask yourself? BECAUSE MY iPOD IS THE BEST! I have excellent taste in music just like everything else in this life. Seriously, none of this hard core head-ache yelling Heavy Metal stuff or Angry Rap that is pretending to be music. I have the good stuff. You will find the Classics, everything from NSYNC to Britney Spears and the Dixy Chicks, Carrie Underwood, you will find soundtracks to all of the very best Chick Flicks of all time, you will find musicals and of course all of the best new stuff - David Archuleta's Crush, Taylor Swift's Love Story, and Maroon 5 and Rhianna are some of our current favorites...as well as A Way Back Into Love from Music and Lyrics. We usually end our Dance Party with Lucky by Britney Spears. Then we go to church. I enjoy church, especially when Jaimie lets me teach her Sign Language or when we play Jeopardy during Sunday School. THAT gets pretty intense. After church I usually go to SLC to see my whole family - minus my ACTUAL family of course (except for Ry, he is usually there) Grandma has dinner and we have Family Night. It is one of the best times of the week, but it gets pretty crazy. Yesterday Stephanie even came! While i am on the subject can i just say how proud I am of Stephanie White and how awesome her dance concert was this weekend? WAY TO GO STEFANYA! Anyways she survived the Harmers...I think : D She was probably pretty shocked at how loud and crazy our lovely family is, "Loud" and "Crazy" being a positive choice of words on my part. At least now she knows where I got to be so Sassy. It's from my aunts...AND MOM OF COURSE! Yesterday we had a wonderful home cooked meal, an FHE lesson on being thankful, watched Ty's Football Highlight Video (AWESOME job Heidi and Honey Bunny Dan), and had very yummy Brownies. Sundays are my pretty sweet. Good food, Good friends, Good fun, Good music, Good family AND the spirit of the Lord. It doesn't get much better. I love my Roommates.

Food 4 Thought...
If i were Miss Skinny Toothpick of the World or a beautiful Princess/Heiress Celebrity this is totally what i would look like - except maybe with a smaller nose LoL. Some days i think we all wake up and feel we would give or do anything to look like someone like Nicole Richie or have the infinite amount of money she has. The truth is - NO WE WOULDN'T, or at least most of us wouldn't. I am happy to be me! I have a great life with amazing friends and family and I go to the best school on the planet. I am healthy and happy and life is good. Nicole Richie and all the celebrities in the world have nothing on Kate the Great Christensen, even with the lumps ; D I was born in 21st century America and i have the Gospel in my life. I don't need Mr. Lionel "All Night Long" Richie for a dad to make me happy. I close with the sweet words of the very wise sister Majorie Pay Hinckley...
"I don't want to drive up to the Pearly Gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully , tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails.
I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp.
I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children.
I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden.
I want to be there with sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder.
I want the Lord to know I was really here."
Think of that next time you watch the Oscars or feel your life is mediocre People!

The Envelope Please...
First of all, I would like to thank my Aunt Tara for this award. Your blog inspired me to take up blogging myself. If it weren't for you I would not be here today. This just goes to show that if a humble little Farm Girl from Royal City, Washington can be award for her blogging skills, anybody can : D
The Rules Are...
1. Name Five things that you love
2. Pass along the blog award to blogs you love
3. Please link back to my blog
I have decided to exclude my family and friends from my five things that i love because that goes without saying and i feel the need to dig a little deeper this morning. Here they are...
1. The United States of America - Seriously, despite some disappointing numbers last night i still love this country and am thankful for the right to vote, even if it means losing sometimes,
2. SNOW - OK, so really i hate snow. But i am choosing to love it today because it makes me appreciate the sunshine and the beach. PLUS it makes me excited for Christmas...
3. Thanksgiving - Only since i have been away from college have I developed a real love for the actual Holiday. BYU has no Fall break and it is the first time I get to go home and see my family. LESS THAN THREE WEEKS!
4. Books - Well, good books. I LOVE THEM! They just make my little heart happy.
5. Michael Christensen - LoL I KNOW I KNOW! I said that i would exclude family BUT I was just talking to my dad while blogging. He is somply the best Dad EVER! SO sweet and so nice. I LOVE YOU DAD

ELECTION DAY!!!!
GUYS IT IS FINALLY HERE!!!! Can you believe it? In less than 24 hours we will probably know who the next President of the United States is. That is so crazy! You all know what a Gilmore Girls fan I am and the last show of the series was on TV the other day. This show ended my Senior year in HS almost two years ago and in the last episode Rory goes to work for the Obama Campaign. I remember talking about the election in my American Government Class and in American Heritage here at the Y a year and a half ago. Basically this thing has been going on FOREVER and i am ready for it to be done.
I hope everyone gets out there and votes. I am glad that I grew up in a home where my parents voted and always discussed the issues with us. I remember going to vote with my mom when i was a little girl. It is exciting to get your opinions out there.
I am really proud of all the BYU students who have been actively campaigning for Proposition 8. Many people here at the Y and even in Utah are upset that the church is getting involved in Politics. I personally think the time to stand passively by is coming to a close. We are going to have to take a stand and fight for our religion in the years to come and we might as well start now so GET OUT THERE AND CAST YOUR BALLOT!

If you wanna be my lover....
Lucky Provo had a few celebrities Friday night for Halloween - THE SPICE GIRLS!!!! Ok, so a little background info. In February my friends and I made a road trip to SLC for the funeral of President Hinckley. We ended up crashing at Granny Marilyn's Hotel the night before. We watched Spice World and ended up singing and dancing to the Spice Girls all night and listening to them all the way home. Fast Forward to October - We get the brilliant idea of Portraying them for Halloween on account of they are basically our new idols. I got stuck with being Ginger Spice because apparently i look like her. I was a little worried because, lets be honest people, she is the residential Spice Slut. Her name used to be Sexy Spice for crying out loud. She never even wears pants - just sparkly underwear, which nobody wants to see me in. She is flashy though, hence the outfit choice. This is about as scandalous as it gets for Katelyn Michael Christensen.
I wanted to buy a wig but my roommate Jaimie insisted that we dye my hair red. Wal-Mart only had permanent hair dye, which
was fine with James and Ali. I was not so sure. We ended up buying some Halloween spray thats comes out to please everyone. WATCH OUT LIL' SISTER - THERE IS A NEW HOT REDHEAD CHRISTENSEN IN TOWN! lol, or at least there was for a few hours. My scalp is STILL red.
The other girlies looked great. Marci as Posh was probably my favorite I am not going to lie. Shemade the best Victoria Becks ever. She struck the most AMAZING poses in all of the pics. I loved when people recognized us and yelled out "HEY - It's the Spice Girls..." It gave us opportunities to bust out Wannabe - which we did whenever we got the chance. I finally learned the words by the end of the night. I havn't stopped singing that stupid song since! It was fun. I love these chicks - they are the best. I have the most amazing friends ever. GIRL POWER! I threw in a few pictures of the real Spice Girls to throw you off. Spot the difference...I DARE YOU
